Back at it with traditional painting a series of animals

The funny bunny that jump started it all-
11x14" acrylic on panel

A magpie from Norway-16x20" acrylic on canvas

The local snowy owl at Standing Bear-12x12" acrylic on panel

A funny fox you never see-14x18" acrylic on canvas

Can I have a balance of creating digital art prints as well as traditional wall art? Most certainly. To keep the proper flow of art consistent I have to create both every day. Sometimes when I'm in the mess of painting traditional art I feel frustrated that I can't tap two times on the screen/canvas to undo-instead you get used to over painting and blending-which I do not do digitally-I don't like the blend tool-yet. And then sometimes I want to tap for the perfect color match without spending several minutes mixing the proper color. So I get up and move around to take a play with the dog or cat break and or change the water and clean my brushes type of stretch. And then I remind myself of this almost imperfect balance of cozy comfy on the sofa creating digital animal art and adrenaline focussed and messy in an art room creating traditional art. My brain is pretty satisfied if I can keep that flow moving in the right direction. I see the progress of my look and I see the consistent vibe that's developing every day. This is what keeps me pushing forward towards my goal of creating art using BOTH mediums. Wild and pink and abstract. Joy

New prints for upcoming 2025 calendar progress report

Cowboy cat available in my ZAZZLE shop

Night gardener cat print available soon!

My goal is to complete a series of 12 funny and naturally cute cat designs by July or I may push to August 1 for the prints to be available as physical POD prints rather than digital downloads each one being unique and trendy and hopefully evergreen for my shop. Themes are nurses, grade school, garden, cowboy, outer space and ghosts etc!!! Full page color art including backgrounds instead of my typical quick and minimal white background png file. Kinda tired of that outdated overly saturated look. I am spicing things up or leveling up my look and art style for my shop! Spending an awful lot more time in research and development and simply going the extra mile because I need to for myself. I have a better attitude lately maybe health and well being and never taking anything for granted is contributing to that and ultimately helps me grow as an artist and makes me improve my art. I love this whole process. It is a challenge I fully take on every year now and am excited to see the growth! Cats are silly goofballs and those who appreciate them will hopefully appreciate my art and bring them joy! My dopey cats do  everyday!!!!

Big idea that seems impossible-Chihuahua family pack pet portrait process plus completed works of art!

Completed 8 dog pet portrait!

Chihuahuas sloppy copy idea practice painting on panel board

Cute brown girl but no details yet!

Funny guy on a poof no details yet!

Wackadoodle cutie no details yet!

Big pet portrait process of eight little chihuahuas (on a 30x40” canvas)in a funny accent chair, poofs and teacups(naturally) plus hats and shirts and possibly butterflies but maybe super simple flowers will do to keep it cohesive. Go here for funny dog gifts! https://puppycatandmouse.etsy.com/
I started with a practice painting on a 8.5x11” panel board which will soon be my preferred method choice of surfaces. I mixed acrylic and gouache and ink just to put it all together.
I’ve had so many interruptions during the process which completely drains all my mental focus and energy(why does one freeze and feel paralyzed when staring at your artwork?)which can be utterly frustrating, discouraging and I may feel it is impossible, but still I know deep down in my gut I am close to the finish line and will feel joy and satisfaction when that final brush stroke hits and I just leave it. I am working at my pace my own flow and excited about new projects once this great one is in the hands and on the wall of it’s owner!!

Christmas cards/prints for 2024!

Yep I’m way ahead of the Christmas Q4 season. Or too late I guess whichever way you look at it. Only available in my shop for Christmas 2024 season! This idea for a Christmas card/print series popped in my head only a week ago. Not in the Christmas spirit as much as refining my drawing/inking skills. And boy was it refreshing! It took my mind away from depression and anxiety and sadness. My inspiration came from my sister’s pack of chihuahuas (currently painting her a portrait) , black and white minimalism, starry nights, nature, funny cats and, Charlie Brown and Linus Christmas tree shopping around the silly trees on the tree lot. My fave scene.
I plan to offer these as prints. Nøt printables as I’m feeling more like digital downloads cheapen my art and also customers prefer a physical product!!! So do I. Nothing beats touching the cool and funny and unique item!
My new 2024 word is P O L I S H. Slow down with your art. Choose your flow. Do not rush. And look at the silly results from drawing and inking.  Still don’t forget to be free and loose and a bit sloppy abstract. Imperfect design is fine.
