 Custom Photography FAQ
  • How do I book you for a shoot?
  • A:You contact me via email or phone and we have an initial consultation regarding the   preparation for a terrific day to shoot your precious pooch or purrrfect kitty cat!
    • What can I expect at my photo session?
    • A: Generally we will meet at the preferred location, I will take some time to get to know you and your pet and let them feel comfortable around me an the camera. We'll just have a blast shooting from various angles and in different areas at a park, your home or in the middle of a field with many natural and fun and familiar backgrounds. The ultimate fun experience shooting tons of expressive pictures with lots of treats for the pets!
    •  How long does a typical shoot take?
    • A: I will spend a maximum of 2 hours. Whatever it takes to get the shots that I am completely happy with!
    • Do I need to sign a model release form?
    • A: Yes, I have all my clients sign a model release form at the beginning of the session for their pet. A release says that the owner of a certain property, such as a pet, has given me, Kim Widmark, consent to take and use images of the property. Or the parent of a child under 18 gives me permission to photograph him or her.
    • What will you photograph?
    • A: If you have a baby, child, children, senior, couple, family or a single person WITH A PET or two. More than 2 pets or 2 kids per session please contact me for pricing.
    • What happens if it rains/snows?
    • A: Check with me and I will totally reschedule for a better weather day. However, sometimes if the rain/snow is light, that can truly create some beautiful images-raincoats, umbrellas and bubbly jackets can be worked with but, overcast and sunny days are ultimately ideal. If it is hot and sunny, great! Remember I will shoot primarily in the shady areas. Harsh sun can cause squinty eyes and unnatural colors. Shade is our best friend!
    • What part of the day is best for photographing me and my pet?
    • A: Early in the morning, between 7-11am. And afternoon, between 4-8pm, depending on the season. Sunrise and sunset can work if you are up to it!
    •  Where should we have the photography session?
    • A: The best location for pet is your home, backyard, front porch, sidewalk. A local park, urban area, field with the no distractions is good as long as your pet feels comfy and relaxed! For people this can be anywhere such as a park or your home!
    • My pet is hyper/shy and has high/low energy, he/she has never been photographed professionally-only by me with my happy snap camera, he/she might go run wild/get scared and hide, what should I do to prepare him/her?
    • A: Dogs MUST be exercised before the session. Walk or run around to relax them and to drain all of their energy! With your assistance, please keep them leashed if we are at the park. For shots at home, a shy dog usually warms up to new people pretty fast, we'll just let them run and be free to being simply a dog! I recommend that cats be photographed inside the home, UNLESS you are confident they are in a safe and secure area and have a special place they hang out at outside such as a porch, deck or middle of the lawn!  Remember, a tired dog plus happy owner equals perfect portraits! This is critical!
    •  Should my pet be groomed before the shoot?
    • A: Yes, a day or two before the shoot is fine to give them a pet bubbly before the session!
    • Can I be in the picture, should I include favorite toys and props?
    • A: By all means, please be a part of the portrait session! You are the proud owner of your pet and I encourage you and your family to be a part of the pet family portrait! Your bond with your pet is truly what I will capture! I CAN crop you out or you may be in the background-whatever works. And bring along the favorite toys-they may be included if you like.
    •  How much time do you spend in post production?
    • A: I spend a great deal of time carefully editing each image in post production averaging about 15 hours pr client and I will make sure that you are fully satisfied money back guarantee!
    •  When do I get to view my photographs?
    • A: After the shoot, up to 50 watermarked images will be presented in a online gallery in about a week.
    • How can I visualize my custom art on my wall?
    • A: Please click here: VISION on my website that I have created to help you get an idea for the type of size you may need for your space! An 8x10 gift print is VERY small, but great for a desk or inside a shelf space. But a 30X40 gallery wrap canvas is a totally perfect work of art on your wall! This will have some major IMPACT and absolutely WOW you and your guests! It will be something you will CHERISH forever!
    • What are your prices per print/fine art book/gallery wraps?

    • What type of paper for printing do you use?

    • Will you photograph my pet at the local dog park?
    • A: The local dog park is a great place for certain dogs to run wild and be free, however it is NOT a place I recommend for photographing pets.
