Whimsical anthropomorphic cats calendar 2025 available now!

Whimsical cats 2025

Comfy cozy book cat!

Nurse cat!

Ghost cat!

Patriot cat!

UFO cat!

Snowy cat!

These are my top cat illustrations from this year for the all new 2025 cat calendar! Only two designs are available as a fine art giclee prints for now. Snow cat in orange and pink and ufo cat. The other months have been a part of my painting journey this year. Digital paintings. Sorting through the stylizations of these cats was a task. It had to be cohesive for the whimsical and anthropomorphic big cat eye looks. I love them all but am particularly fond of the jovial patriotic cat who’s ready to party (because elections are done!) in July! Complete with the US flag and pet mouse! It’s simply silly! I will have put together some process videos of some of my work very soon as I am posting one a week on my channel. This cat calendar that makes no sense is available right now in my shop!

Original paintings coming soon to my shop!

Retro cat series coming soon after final details and enhancements added. I am painting more traditional funny animal portraits and simply loving the look I’m developing. Inspired by this blue ceramic vintage cat I have had in my possession for years (isn’t she just delightful and silly) and decided one day to paint a bunch of like minded cats for the shop. Because that’s ok to include into the Puppycatandmouse shop of animal art and gifts!!!Canvas and board 8x10” and or 10x10” will be available for sale among dogs and possibly other whimsical creatures of nature. These are truly fun to paint with my favorite color palette of black and white, magenta pink, pthalo green and sun kissed orange. I want to include physical art because it has so much more value to a customer than a simple digital piece (no mess and screen watching and drawing can take a toll on your mind-this however is refreshing) which is nice and cute and funny but getting messy and spending time doing the hard stuff is rewarding and fulfilling.
This November will be the month to go hard on the physical pieces. As I’d like to list for sale for gifts for the holidays etc. so I’m back at it again and delighting myself. Painting is messy! But fun!

August dog drawing/painting challenge!

Scottish Deerhound

Kooikerhondje

Stabyhoun

Kuvasz

Lancashire Heeler
I took on a challenge this entire month of August where you draw (paint) a different doggie dog every day - or follow the daily prompts from the instagram Doggust 2024 challenge list. I have never even heard of most of these breeds and some are pretty wackadoodle to draw! To be able to focus like a laser and choose to draw daily was never a chore for me. I draw, paint, (digitally and traditionally) as much as I can squeeze in daily. Not to mention sorting and editing through my designs for print and products for my shop for hours every day. Sometimes I feel like I’m running behind on all art projects. Because I had a late start in this digital art drawing (I’m going on my sixth year soon!) I’m always in a hurry to complete art projects. This year I have painted so much and now I’m finally documenting it in my shop and Instagram also have queued up vids for YouTube to elevate that channel. But dogs have been the focus this month for a personal goal to level up my skills (paw studies) some of these designs will eventually become prints and naturally a calendar for 2025 which I’m obsessed with and this is now a tradition (cats tooooo!). And I feel the need to design a puzzle - random interest I know. 31dog drawings in August has taught me to develop my sense of style and look that I feel pretty good about. I am running out of time so I’m making the most out of it and everything I draw matters. Dogs are my therapy.

Summer inspired me to make this

Monarch butterfly merch

Even more monarch merch

Monster cosmos

A pile of zineas!

Sneak peak at the dogs of august!
The front yard just exploded with flowers so I’m inspired. I met some bees and wasps and beatles and butterflies and praying mantis and hummingbirds. Joy. So my brain said draw a butterfly. Like stained glass like. And create some designs with it. My shop is humming and buzzing. And I feel like it’s going through a re brand. I’m nearly done with all of the POD merch designs. And next up is the art prints! Then on to the 2024 calendar!
But first! I’ve committed to the Instagram challenge- Doggust draw a dog a day for 31 days in august coming up. I’ve checked out the prompts and have a good head start. It’s been 2 years since I participated (2021 and 2022)!! so the challenge is real and you know life begins when you step out of your comfort zone. So yeah. Dogs. Stylized dogs. The anatomy is a little weak. But hey it’s for fun and not too serious so I do the best I can! These are some seriously funny looking dogs.

Back at it with traditional painting a series of animals

The funny bunny that jump started it all-
11x14" acrylic on panel

A magpie from Norway-16x20" acrylic on canvas

The local snowy owl at Standing Bear-12x12" acrylic on panel

A funny fox you never see-14x18" acrylic on canvas

Can I have a balance of creating digital art prints as well as traditional wall art? Most certainly. To keep the proper flow of art consistent I have to create both every day. Sometimes when I'm in the mess of painting traditional art I feel frustrated that I can't tap two times on the screen/canvas to undo-instead you get used to over painting and blending-which I do not do digitally-I don't like the blend tool-yet. And then sometimes I want to tap for the perfect color match without spending several minutes mixing the proper color. So I get up and move around to take a play with the dog or cat break and or change the water and clean my brushes type of stretch. And then I remind myself of this almost imperfect balance of cozy comfy on the sofa creating digital animal art and adrenaline focussed and messy in an art room creating traditional art. My brain is pretty satisfied if I can keep that flow moving in the right direction. I see the progress of my look and I see the consistent vibe that's developing every day. This is what keeps me pushing forward towards my goal of creating art using BOTH mediums. Wild and pink and abstract. Joy

New prints for upcoming 2025 calendar progress report

Cowboy cat available in my ZAZZLE shop

Night gardener cat print available soon!

My goal is to complete a series of 12 funny and naturally cute cat designs by July or I may push to August 1 for the prints to be available as physical POD prints rather than digital downloads each one being unique and trendy and hopefully evergreen for my shop. Themes are nurses, grade school, garden, cowboy, outer space and ghosts etc!!! Full page color art including backgrounds instead of my typical quick and minimal white background png file. Kinda tired of that outdated overly saturated look. I am spicing things up or leveling up my look and art style for my shop! Spending an awful lot more time in research and development and simply going the extra mile because I need to for myself. I have a better attitude lately maybe health and well being and never taking anything for granted is contributing to that and ultimately helps me grow as an artist and makes me improve my art. I love this whole process. It is a challenge I fully take on every year now and am excited to see the growth! Cats are silly goofballs and those who appreciate them will hopefully appreciate my art and bring them joy! My dopey cats do  everyday!!!!

Big idea that seems impossible-Chihuahua family pack pet portrait process plus completed works of art!

Completed 8 dog pet portrait!

Chihuahuas sloppy copy idea practice painting on panel board

Cute brown girl but no details yet!

Funny guy on a poof no details yet!

Wackadoodle cutie no details yet!

Big pet portrait process of eight little chihuahuas (on a 30x40” canvas)in a funny accent chair, poofs and teacups(naturally) plus hats and shirts and possibly butterflies but maybe super simple flowers will do to keep it cohesive. Go here for funny dog gifts! https://puppycatandmouse.etsy.com/
I started with a practice painting on a 8.5x11” panel board which will soon be my preferred method choice of surfaces. I mixed acrylic and gouache and ink just to put it all together.
I’ve had so many interruptions during the process which completely drains all my mental focus and energy(why does one freeze and feel paralyzed when staring at your artwork?)which can be utterly frustrating, discouraging and I may feel it is impossible, but still I know deep down in my gut I am close to the finish line and will feel joy and satisfaction when that final brush stroke hits and I just leave it. I am working at my pace my own flow and excited about new projects once this great one is in the hands and on the wall of it’s owner!!
