Christmas Gecko
Just a little reminder that geckos need to be included in the Christmas celebration too. Now I know this little guy normally lives in a warm, moist, live plant habitat, but he deserved some xmas excitement by mixing up his boring lifestyle. Don't worry, he wasn't harmed at all during this brief photo shoot. Awwwwe, isn't he adorable though???

Final Senior Portrait Photography Sessions for 2011
Today is the final day to deliver all senior portrait photographs for the Burke yearbook plus many other high school yearbooks. I shot a total of 5 seniors this year and it was a blast working with the different kids personalities. Each kid was unique and special and I hope I was able to capture that in each session. I was going for hip and cool as well as classic and traditional. I def learned what NOT to do and learned about restrictions that different high schools have. A great learning experience, however, I must turn down any future Senior portraits for 2012. I believe I'm good at it, but it's NOT what I need to focus on. My focus is kids and pets. Not seniors, weddings, babies, families, landscapes, still life or anything GENERAL. I am creating a niche. Kids and pets are my specialty!

Baby Mama chichi Chihuahua
Chichi chihuahua gave birth to four cutie pies boys. This is one of the shots that included her 'ears'. She is super hyper and skittish and very protective of her babies so it was a challenge to get her to calm down on her 'mommies' lap. I love the effect of the red t-shirt in the background. Thank you Kay for your cooperation! Chichi was a delight to photograph!

Ladies night eve and Ladies night at Mulhall"s
Ladies Night out at Mulhall's Nursery was a huge success! Over 800 fabulous 'ladies' showed up to the event that included super Christmas discounts, awesome live music, fabulous wine, delicious ordurves, prizes but more importantly ticket sales that totaled nearly $5000 went to The Omaha Food Bank!

In memory of Lulu
I had the pleasure of photographing shy little precious Lulu and her brothers last year. She was rescued from a puppy mill along with her brother Horton and belonged to a loving mama named Evelyn. Lulu became suddenly sick and had to be put to rest. She will be missed sorely, but never forgotten!

Christmas bokeh
While shooting some fantastic looking Christmas trees at Mulhall's Nursery, I got to experiment with some of the lights. I'll blur the heck out of the tree and voila! Beautiful bokeh. A Japanese word for blur quality. The way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light. The quality of this blur looks pretty pleasing to my eyes. There can be good bokeh and stupid bad bokeh. This image might work well as a background for a graphic design project. In this case, my logo. Or my website text, I don't HAVE a logo YET! Project 2012 possibly???

Chichi and Pepe make some babies! JOY!
So Chichi and Pepe made FOUR babies and they will soon be displayed in this post very soon. They are poor puppies because they just had their shots the same day and were super crybabies. So we were extra careful, but the calm and mellowness was perfect for puppy pet portraits. Every chihuahua in the family got a chance to be a model today. Stay tuned!

Brothers and family dog portraits Omaha Nebraska
There's something about the bond between kids and the family pet. Clovis, who is a mix of Labrador Retriever and St. Bernard, is a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and loves his dinner with a big bowel of Cheerios. He's a special man with a mellow and lovable personality. He loves to go to the beauty parlor on special occasions and spends serious game time with his brothers. The connection is truly special and I tried to capture that in these portraits. Some are formal, but some are simply candid and artistic which is more of what I love to create. I had the opportunity to shoot with the 24-70mm Canon L lens, it's heavy and big(expensive), but razor sharp, lightning fast and simply and awesome portrait lens that I am now in love with. Thank you Clovis for being a fantastic model!

Elmwood Park Fall Portraits Omaha
I had a chance to rent a fabulous lens this weekend and tested it on a beautiful willing model! The Canon 24-70mm lens is sharp, fast and produces stunning images! I wish it wasn't so heavy and big. That's a serious downside but the good def outweighs the bad! I'll need to do some further research on this fab lens. It's something that needs to live on my camera body in the near future for sure!

Happy Halloween from cute puppies
Sorry I've been away. But today is a special celebration. I rented a fabulous lens to test for some research I've been working on. This is what it can do, create awesomeness. My puppy was a fantastic model for the day. This shot truly says it all-I love you mom and happy Halloween and all, but seriously-screw you for making me put up with this costume. I will describe in more detail later, and I promise to be more active on my blog. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
